Our Story
Steve and Erin began dating in 1997. Besides their love of family, friends, and Priest Lake, they realized that Erin shared Steve’s enthusiasm for creating beautiful homes. With Steve’s blessing, Erin retired from her first career as an accountant and returned to school. She received her design degree in 2011, and they began their new adventure working together designing and building custom homes.

Get to Know Steve
Owner Steve Kowalik started in the building industry at a very early age working with his father building custom homes and townhouses. He established Birchcrest Homes, Inc. in August 1983 and has been building in the Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho area ever since. Over the years his projects have ranged in size from 1,200 square foot studios to 10,000 square foot estates, small commercial projects and a wide array of remodels and additions. He takes great pride in continuing his father's legacy of precision craftsmanship, personalized service and exceptional quality.
Get to Know Erin
Erin Kowalik joined the Birchcrest team as a full service custom home designer several years ago in an effort to enrich the services offered by Birchcrest Homes. She works closely with the clients to develop a meaningful design solution, then interpreting and communicating those design objectives to the construction team. Her goal is to integrate the client's needs into an innovative design solution that embraces their own tastes, lifestyle, and preferences. Erin is passionate about creating distinctive, timeless environments to inspire and enrich her clients' lives.
